Review: Eyeko Lash Alert Mascara

Eyeko has been widely popular in the pro-beauty community for years. I’ve never gotten the chance to use any of their products, but the brand recently contacted me to see if I’d be interested in testing their new Lash Alert Mascara. Since they’re kind famous for their mascaras, I of course jumped at the chance.

Review: Eyeko Lash Alert Mascara

 What is it?

The Eyeko Lash Alert Mascara is a mascara and lash treatment wrapped in one. It contains:

  • Shea Butter for nourishment
  • Caffeine to stimulate
  • Arginine for repair
  • Biotinoyl Tripepetide to regenerate
  • Biotin to thicken

It contains a double dose of fibers with a water-resistant tubing formula. It’s also said to lock in hold for 12+ hours, without running, smudging, flaking or crumbling.

Packaging

Eyeko has the most genius mascara packaging and why every the other brand has not followed suit is beyond me. The Lash Alert Mascara (along with their other formulas) is in a tube which prevents wasting a ton of product – you can basically squeeze it until it’s dry. Major points for packaging.

Wand

The first thing I noticed is that the wand is smaller than I’m used to. I usually prefer a thicker, more dense wand because I like tons of volume, but I was pleasantly surprised at how well this little guy built up my lashes. The fibers help to add volume, while the wand grabbed onto every lash adding length and separation.  It’s also curved to help assist in curling your lashes upward.

Formula and Color

I’m a big fan of Korean beauty products and the Eyeko Lash Alert Mascara is created using award-winning Korean technology. Also, unlike with most fibre mascaras, there aren’t multiple steps. The fibres are in the formula, which makes it super easy and quick. It’s water-resistant and the color is a very dark carbon black.

Application / Wear

When applying the Eyeko Lash Alert Mascara, I use about 2-3 coats to build up my lashes to get them to the point I’m used to. The wand allows for great separation, so adding more coats isn’t a pain. I love how this mascara makes my lashes look. It gives them tons of volume and drama. I noticed some slight curling action but still recommend a lash curler if you have straight lashes.

Eyeko Lash Alert Mascara Before and After

Lash Alert Mascara is supposed to retain color and hold for 12+ hours so what better way to test it than on a 12 hour shoot day?  I applied the mascara at 8am and went to work filming a new television show. It was a crazy day and it was 100 degrees outside. I had no time to look in the mirror, let alone touch myself up. Around the 11th hour, the rest of my eye makeup had rubbed off but my lashes were holding strong. There was one single tiny flake (probably because I was rubbing my eye) but no smearing or crumbling whatsoever. The volume had diminished a bit, but the color was there and they still looked great. It was pretty incredible.

On shorter, more mellow days, I notice that the Lash Alert Mascara really does last all day with no need for a touch up. It’s also much less stiff than most waterproof mascaras and your lashes don’t feel like they’re going to snap off when you’re wearing it. Always a plus.

I have not noticed a difference in the condition of my lashes even though the formula contains treatment-like ingredients.

Removal

The only thing I dislike about this mascara is the removal process. I’m used to being able to remove my mascara with a few swipes of Bioderma, but the Lash Alert Mascara takes a lot more work. Bioderma didn’t really touch this, so I had to break out an oil remover to get it off. Because the removal process requires an extra step (and I’m super lazy), this won’t be an everyday formula for me. I am going to save the Eyeko Lash Alert mascara for days when I need extra volume, or a super long lasting, water resistant formula.

Will this be Going in my Kit?

Yes, I would purchase another one for my kit. Since the Eyeko Lash Alert Mascara is difficult to remove, it limits my ability to use it in a range of different scenarios, especially when I’m doing a lot of look changes. However, it would be fantastic for special event or red carpet makeup because it will last all night with no maintenance.

Cruelty Free?

YES! Eyeko does not test on animals, even in their raw ingredients, and they do not sell in China.
